The Red Door

“I recently, last week, helped one of my employees move out of her apartment, and she is a student and single mom. I devoted all day to helping her move her belongings and clean her apartment, to give her a new lease on life. And in return, it gave her relief that she was able to move on and look forward instead of backward.
Ironically, she was getting rid of a beautiful red cabinet and I knew the moment I saw it that it had a purpose. Little did I know that purpose would be for this project.
I propose we call our college project "The Red Door" .
"The Red Door" is more than just a statement. The color red is a symbol to make you stop and look at it. For example, a stop sign will make you stop and look and a stop light will do the same. The color red is symbolic to stop and look at something. “
As our students here at VUJC prepare their life for the future and the goals they have set for themselves, we here at Phi Theta Kappa’s Beta Zeta Rho Chapter would like to help those who need a little extra to get them through. This could be until your next paycheck, something you forgot to grab at the store, or for those who don’t know where else to go.
The Red Door is for everyone. Single parents, students who need help, and those who do not have enough right now.
The Red Door is a welcoming place to go to grab essentials. Located in a quiet spot on campus, we hope you will utilize our newest aid.
We will be taking anything you can donate, just visit the ACE center to drop off your items.
